Atlantis Job Fair
As some of you may have noticed, Matthias Hull has announced a Job Fair from Thursday - Sunday that the city is holding.
If you would like to get your character a job, feel free to respond to his post! He and various other members of the city will be around. You can also ask OOC questions or plot in here if you like.
Some of the industries/locations hiring job positions at the fair include:
The Atlantis Fisher Fleet is seeking deck hands and port-side fish handlers
The Justice Center is hiring Enforcers for helping to keep Atlantis a safe environment
Atlas Tiered School and Atlas University are looking for educators/professors (and a janitor)
The Asteria Planetarium is looking for people to help chart stars. An unrewarding and time-consuming job.
The Atlas Library is looking for some help with re-shelving and keeping the tomes and books organized.
Dionysus' Porpoise is hiring servers and cooks
The New Brew Cafe is hiring Baristas
If your character has a shop/business and wants to hire someone let me know and I'll add you to the list.
The Changing of the Tides Festival
The middle of March is a very important time for Atlanteans. Every year at this time a strange phenomenon of the island causes a changing tide of cool, clear water to bring in massive schools of fish to the sea surrounding the island. Fishing is at its finest this time of year, and many of the Atlanteans thank the Gods of their City for this unexplained bounty.
As such, each year in the weeks before the tides change, the entire city breaks out into a massive festival. Brightly colored decorations are strung out all around the city and each night the town centre is full of music, dancing, food and celebration. There are special, vibrant blue fireworks that are set off on the weekends, and the people of the city will be all too eager to pull anyone they see into the festivities. The children and some of the adults put on plays and shows on the grand stage. Displays of ritualistic dances, plays representing various takes on the stories of the gods or the island itself. There will even be the occasional fly-over display of the Atlantean Air Ships. Acrobatic flying of the sleek, hammerhead ships.
It will be a time of great food, good spirits and friendly gestures in an infectious air of celebration and hope. The festival begins Monday of Week 7 and ends with the end of Week 8, lasting a full two weeks. Unfortunately, the rain for most of Week 7 will keep most of the festival contained to the stage, which will be covered with a bright and colorful tarp. As well as the shops surrounding the town centre. Week 8, the festival will be out in full force.
