Weeks 9-12

Welcome to Fishing Season!

With the fishing season upon Atlantis at last, the city is going to be bursting with activity, both at the docks and the city center itself. For the next four weeks the ocean will be full of ships of all shapes and sizes out trying to make the most of the flood of fish filling the bay. Atlantean's have the next two weeks off for 'Spring Break' when it comes to school, and all the young Atlantean's will be making use of the time to fill the beach. The youngest children flying kites (shaped like various legendary Atlantean beasts) with their parents or building sand castles and playing Sand Leviathan, while older kids and teens will be out enjoying the warm bay waters and playing beach sports of various types. It's an active and productive time for Atlantean adults who fill their time stocking the markets, handling at the docks and offering their animals for help with fish carts. The city roads will be busy, with carts pulled by everything from island horses and goats to chocobos and hogs.

The weather is fantastic and everyone seems overall very happy, if a bit hectic. There will be plenty of jobs around for anyone looking to work, and the more venturesome individuals will find this is SPECTACULAR trading time. In addition to fish, some of the larger docking boats will be unloading crates full of fabrics and raw materials. If asked where they got them, most captains will shrug or claim to have fished them from the sea. It is difficult to guess at their origins and no one is very forthcoming with information.

Atlantean's do not celebrate April Fool's, so the month of April holds little significance to them beyond being spring time and the celebration of Gaia. Still... there may be some chaos in store for the future...

Atlantis Weeks 9-12

As far as plots go, the next few weeks have some pretty heavy NPC plot going on that will show up throughout the weeks. Look for a lot of activity from the Atlantean's themselves. A Beach and Docks log will go up at the start of Week 9, and a Market log between weeks 9 and 10 as well as several NPC posts related to the plot. Interacting with the NPC posts is highly encouraged as it will help determine how and where things go the next few weeks, but is not required!

Week 12 is especially relevant to our growing cast of werewolves, as well as to any star-gazers or astronomers.

Gabriel's Fools
Atlantean's may not celebrate April fools, but a certain trickster does. Week 11 is going to be full of pranks becoming real, chaotic weather, crazy shenanigans and a moon that appears to be made out of cheese. Is it really? Who can say?

Look for more information on this plot to come around the end of Week 10. Details are still in process

Week 9:
3/17 - 3/23
Warm Spring Weather and Sunny skies with fair winds
The temperature will be in the 77-86F ~ 25-30C range
The night sky will feature:

Full moon on Wednesday

Week 10:

The temperature will be in the 80-86F ~ 26.5-35C range
The night sky will feature:

An orange-red tinged moon and Earth constellations (Spring, Western Hemisphere - Equatorial)

Week 11:
3/31 - 4/6

Sunday Cheese Moon is not a Full moon.

Week 12:

As far as our werewolves are concerned this entire week is full of full moons with varying effects. The smallest moon Sunday-Tuesday being farthest away and 'weak' while the small orange moon the remaining four days will act as a sort of 'catnip for wolves'. Happy-high werewolves will be acting like over-grown puppies. The sky will be full of many very bright stars.

I wonder... Marvel Loki at early stages isn't too evil, so it's possible that they don't end up hating each other.

gillen brought up some really interesting things in JIM 645 (which i read again after a month of not reading it because my face would just make tears), mostly pertaining to lokis relationship with himself. there's indication that he knew that he was he was doing to himself and it wasn't without regret. little loki doesn't necessarily blame him for the evilness, but more pities him in a lot of ways. IT'S INSANELY INTERESTING, so i decided to play with that a little more than the dislike. (sorry i changed my mind in the middle of it there.)

Loki's so freaking complex, especially the MCU one. Marvel, well, I never read the comics but I did look up some of that info and it seems like he acts more like the typical supervillain until he killed himself and turned into little Loki.

But from what I gathered from both movies though, Loki isn't evil. He's malicious, jealous, and envious in a lot of ways, but he doesn't like destruction for destruction's sake. He didn't want to destroy Earth and he looked truly devastated when he saw what the Chitauri was doing. Of course, then he got distracted by brother and there were more important things on his mind.

dude 616 loki is complex and crazy as hell. if you want to read some of the more interesting tidbits i can recommend some np. i think 616 loki beats mcu on sheer insanity. when little loki says 'evil', he means the events that happened during/prior to the siege, where older-loki drops the asgard-in-oklahoma to the ground in the name of his own selfish freedom. the little one may decide to tell him or not, it sort of depends on the flow of things.

gillen also drills the whole chaotic entity idea through mischief and change. that change itself is what causes chaos, and little loki sort of lives and breathes change. his existence is based on change, and it's through big loki being deliberate that he falls into his own pit of unchange. that's where the whole selfish drive for freedom comes in, and the extent that he goes through to create little loki is insanely amazing. sorry i could sit here and gush about it forever.

the little one still has the predisposition not only for that kind of insanity, but he has the makings of being envious, jealous and absolutely chaotic. the way that he solves problems in a sort of morally ambiguous way (doing good for asgard but uh, wow making some deals with some really unsavory characters) is his MO. i think there's a point inwhich their thoughts just don't turn off, they can't stop the repetitive thinking, they overthink situations and the whole thing turns into a downward spiral because they make up slights and events and blow them out of proportion.

anyway.

interesting.

yay roni.

That is... priceless. And true. And he doesn't want forgiveness anyway.

See, there, right there, that is why I don't usually play from long series (aka any comic characters FROM comic) because they're convoluted, chaotic, and god help me trying to straighten it all if they've got so much history.

When I said complex earlier... how should I explain it. The comics one has more events happening and he sounds crazier, yet to me from reading event summaries it sounds like they don't layer him as well as they did with MCU one. (But I haven't read the comics so I'm the first to admit my views may be naive and biased.) He's casted as the roll of a crazy and chaotic villain, but he doesn't get as much reflection and complex layering.

lol it comes to the point where you really have to look at the writer writing the comic and follow the story arcs within a certain span of those writers. luckily the thor/journey comics haven't really been subjected to anyone in the last year other than gillen, strazynski and fraction, all of which are amazing in their own right.

and i would disagree, they layered him really, really well depending on the writer. and like i said the last ones have been incredible. there's a point where he asks hela to let him go back in time and set up the events that he would later use to overthrow both thor and odin, and crash asgard to the ground (for the sake of freedom, even though once he gets down to it he ends up regretting part of his decision and uses the norn stones to not only stop it but destroy himself). and he literally goes and talks to his little jotun self and tells him exactly what he needs to do to get into odin's court. he manipulates odin's father, bor, and then odin himself (who kind of. well 616 odin is absolutely crazy too, i don't even know how thor turned out ok) and then while he's like laying back in time, kills laufey. like takes an axe to him and then walks away like "wow, that was what i needed. how cathartic."

but all the asgard stuff in pre-siege/siege/post-siege is all amazing because it's strazynski and gillen. which. yeah the two of them are incredible and very good at writing those kind of intricacies.

you can get some poor writers too, but lbh i kind of only took it upon myself to read the good stuff. (lol roni.)

I guess I will need to read the comics to truly know.... which I don't anticipate on doing so anytime soon. orz Comics never really interested me much, sadly, and I'm really such a bad Loki player that I'm not reading from the originals. XD

Wiki probably isn't the best source then, in that case. :|a

But then, MCU and Comics!Loki are pretty different too from what I've heard. Or perhaps they're just from different points of time in his life. He's still rather mild in MCU.

SORRY THAT WAS TL;DR BUT IF YOU EVER WANT TO READ SOME STUFF THAT DOESNT NEED OTHER STUFF LET ME KNOW I WILL TTLY SET YOU UP, BRO

ANYWAY we were plotting before this and i can't remember what we were plotting about. i think it was cell phones.

I WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THOR 2 AND DO MORE CANON INSIGHTS THAT WAY.

Because I am almost positive that that will happen before any comic reading.

Uh, yes, cell phones. I think it depends on how mini-Loki presents himself to see how much big-Loki will end up trusting him. Though!

Mini now knows where to find Big. He's still frequenting the library, hence it will be possible to stalk him there if, IF, Mini comes alone.

i love how where ever i go i always resort to calling them "little" and "big."

IT'LL BE INTERESTING. he might come drop him a line either way and depending on circumstance will ask for his number eventually. tbh i keep saying concrete things and then being like NO WAIT. NO WAIT THATS NOT HAPPENING. so we'll just kind of sail through this and let lokis do what they want because thats what they're inclined to do anyway.

there might not be much trusting going on, because the little one is definitely not ready yet. he was burned pretty bad by his evil-self. the i'm-gonna-erase-my-innocence-forever kinda burn.
iamagod: (I am now ruler of Asgard)

[personal profile] iamagod 2013-03-14 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
YES. OMG YES. Someone who understands the pain of YOUR CHARACTER DOING NOTHING OF WHAT YOU PLANNED. You'd THINK they're going one way, then they get to a crossroad you didn't even know existed, probably because half the time they made it themselves, and they'll go NOPE! and walk down the other path.

I've kinda given up plotting for Loki except for the vaguest of the vague plans. He doesn't even listen to that sometimes.

And what else am I supposed to call him except Little and Big? I mean, he's technically older.... kinda. And this bigger one isn't evil. D: He'd never drop Asgard. That takes years before he's at that point.
